Cross-Border Migration: The Moderation Effect of Sex on Migration Intention of High School Students in South Wollo

Abstract

Migration is one of the most severe global issues of the twenty-first century. As a result, planning for future migration is essential for building clear migration management strategies. The purpose of this study was to investigate the level of emigration intention among high school students, the moderation effect of sex on migration intention, and sex variations in migration intention. A total of 701 high school students took part in the study. Exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were used to examine the psychometric properties of the measures. The findings indicated that the instruments are valid and reliable in Ethiopian context. In addition, the majority of the participants expressed a strong desire to relocate abroad. The findings also revealed that there is a statistically significant difference in mean between female and male migration intentions. According to the global Chi-square test, sex significantly moderates the connection between the predictor variables and migration intention
