Abstract

I have critically reviewed the book entitled “The Next 100 Years: A Forecast for the 21st Century” written by George Friedman. The book contains chronically ordered thirteen chapters and 255 pages. For me, the book is somewhat unique that predicts about unforeseen future in this ever-dynamic era. Methodologically, the author used a combination of historical analogy, trend and geopolitical analyses. History, culture, technology, demography, economy, and strategic locations are the main variables for his forecasting. Even though I am not confident to say the authors’ work is scientific, it is not also simple black art. I prefer to review this book because it shed light on the next one-hundred year plan of the USA. As the world power, the activities of the USA affect Ethiopia directly or indirectly. Hereunder, I have summarized the main points of the book, followed by my own opinion.
